Recipients of EPAD Supported Residencies announced

We’re delighted to announce the first five recipients of EPAD’s Supported Residencies. The five Edinburgh-based theatre and dance artists will have the opportunity to develop new work at Edinburgh venues across the city in May and June.

The recipients and venues are:

  • Erin Boulter at Summerhall

  • Anna Vanosi at WHALE Arts

  • Hannah Venet at Lyra

  • Susannah Laing at Assembly Roxy

  • Marie-Gabrielle Koumenda at Dance Base

The Supported Residencies programme aims to support the creation of new work and to build connections between Edinburgh-based performing arts creatives and venues across the city. A total of eight one-week residencies at eight venues, each with a specific artform or practice development focus, will be offered in the course of the scheme.

The selected artists will have paid time at a venue, along with a budget and support from both EPAD and the host venue. Each venue has a different creative focus, so a range of new work will be developed, including work for young people, new writing, dance and, in the case of WHALE, work with a focus on the community of Wester Hailes.

The programme is open to any Edinburgh-based professional artist, and over a hundred applications were received for the five places available in the first round. Once applications had been checked for eligibility, the final selection was made by random selection, in line with EPAD’s non-competitive ethos.

A second round will open at the end of April for residencies in the Autumn at the Traverse Theatre, North Edinburgh Arts Centre and Scottish Storytelling Centre.

The programme is funded by City of Edinburgh Council.
