ePad Touchscreen Tablet PC
Costing much less that an Apple iPad, clones many from China become available in the Europe and The US. Many of these devices are listed on ebay. What does this mean for the consumer? What can these devices do? Why would you be interested in a cheap unknown iPad clone from China? Lets look into these questions and see them answered.
Called an ePad or Apad it is a Tablet PC with a 7 or 10 inch Touchscreen running the Google Android Operating System. Most are based on a Rockchip CPU with a speed of 600Mhz to 1.2Ghz. The Rockchip CPU a license built ARM multimedia processor. ARM intended these low power chip to be used in Android and Windows Mobile smartphones. These processors natively support Mobile-TV, digital video and still-image recording, touch screen input and GPS functionality. This CPU is no slouch and should be fully capable of powering ePad Touchscreen Tablet Devices.

As with any product sold on eBay, know your seller. Insure the seller is reputable having a history of standing behind their merchandise. Read product reviews and know what you are purchasing. While the specifications are similar build quality can vary. Research the specifications. Know what you are buying. Many ePads are available and prices and specifications vary widely. Saving £5 or $5 could cost you if your purchase lacks needed WI-FI or Bluetooth. It must be repeated again, know your seller and know your product.
The Android OS is not quite as polished as the iPhone OS. Android is still relatively new there are not as many available applications. With each revision of Android that Google releases the “Spit and Polish gap”is narrowing. The Android OS is Open-Source and Google invites everyone interested in Application Development to do so. Many useful application are already available and more are released every day. When considering an ePad make sure you get the model with the newest Android (currently ver 2.2) release.
With all the attention heaped on the Apple iPad its limitations seem never to be discussed. Apple has refused to allow Flash Video support. Apple must approve iPad applications before they are available. The Google Android OS is open-source and Google invites everyone to develop applications.
Be it listening to music, Internet browsing, ebook reading, email tasks, viewing pictures and video on youtube and Hulu. With much lower cost, the ePad devices are a capable alternative to the more mainstream Apple iPad.
